The UK allowed filming in the office of the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, a distinction rarely granted to any film or screen production, especially an American one
Narrative
In the midst of an international crisis, Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, takes on a prestigious position for which she is ill-suited, with tectonic consequences for her marriage and political future. The producers convinced both the Americans and the British governments to allow them to use real locations as filming locations for the series, including the still-new American embassy (at Nine Elms), which opened in 2018.
Honored at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards (2024)
The only unavailable location was Winfield House, the real-life residence of the American ambassador. Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest residential plot (11 acres) in London, apart from Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming purposes.
comedy, drama, great acting and writing, etc
The Diplomat has everything you want in a great show… The show is about a diplomat (Keri Russell) who gets a new job as ambassador to the UK after an international crisis when an aircraft carrier is attacked.
I enjoyed this show so much that I binged all eight episodes in one weekend
She also has to deal with her husband (Rufus Sewell), who is already a political star, and their turbulent marriage. It does so well and has been so well received that it has already been renewed early for another season.
I am definitely looking forward to watching it and seeing where this show goes from here
