In 1985, devoted father Bill Furlong uncovers disturbing secrets at the local monastery and uncovers shocking truths of his own. Cillian Murphy is a fan of Claire Keegan, the original novel in the film. He remembers reading her novel “Foster” on the train, and had to pull his hoodie over his face because he was crying. Eileen Furlong: If you want to get ahead in this life, there are things you have to ignore. Dedicated to the more than 56,000 young women who were admitted to the Magdalen Institutions for “reform and rehabilitation” between 1922 and 1998. And the children taken from them. 60 Minutes Features: Red Sea Crisis/Lying Voters/Finding Cillian Murphy (2024). My eyes were completely glued to the screen from start to finish while watching this film. The number of scenes with so much atmosphere and emotion without dialogue is incredible. Cillian Murphy is absolutely fantastic in this film, as I expected. But the emotions he shows in this film and the way he sees through his body language and facial expressions are brilliant. He is truly one of the best actors of this generation. Emily Watson is captivating as the Mother Superior. The tension she brings to every scene is amazing. It really shows how terrifying some of the nuns were back then. This film had a perfect running time of 1 hour and 45 minutes. It felt even longer because I was in it for so long. Both the score and the cinematography were very simple but so effective. They really contributed a lot to the film and gave the film the necessary closure. Overall, this film was absolutely fantastic and very entertaining. I would love to see more films like this in the future. Although my country’s history has its dark side, it was also nice to learn more about it. “If you want to move forward in life, there are things you have to ignore so you can move forward.”
